Revolution, as defined by Merriam-Webster, definition 2d: a fundamental change in the way of thinking about or visualizing something: a change of paradigm.
In 1973, The Heritage Foundation was formed with the goal of uniting the right around a long-term mission to deliver unchecked power to the president via taking over the Supreme Court, allowing them to enact their radical right-wing agenda. This plan is now coming to fruition.
Today, we fight back! Vote Revolution provides A Path to Progress, to unite (and grow) the left with inspirational and educational media around a comprehensive and strategic legislative plan to strengthen our democracy and democratize our economy, all with an added focus on diplomacy before military, working with the planet instead of against it, and protecting the rights of human and animal life on this planet.
The first step will be to give more power to the people by moving closer to a functional, direct democracy by:
Vote Revolution calls for an Economic Bill of Rights to democratize our economy and ensure basic human needs as basic human rights:
Clean water, healthy food, housing, medical (mental and physical), education (including higher education), and a living wage job are human rights.
To this end, we shall enact:
Although an Economic Bill of Rights is one of the moral imperatives of our time, it's also important to note that when we invest in the basic needs of humanity, everyone benefits. It truly does pay for itself on the back end. The economy flourishes, which generates more tax revenue, lessens our national operating deficit, and can even generate a budget surplus, which then pays down our national debt. Ask Democrat presidents; every Democrat president in my lifetime has lowered the operating deficit by the end of their terms, and one created a surplus and actually started paying down our national debt. All the Republican presidents in my lifetime have done the opposite.
To become energy-independent via sustainable energy and sustain life as we know it we will:
Working with the planet and not against it just makes sense. Sustainable energy is not only a mandate to sustain life as we know it on this planet, but it makes us truly energy-independent as a nation and as individuals. Sustainable energy is one of the best ways we can empower individuals and society as a whole. Societies that become energy-independent with sustainable energy will lead the future morally and economically. Those that don't will be left behind.
Investing in our infrastructure inspires pride and raises the quality of life of the people.
I see a country in which we are the envy of the world, not necessarily militarily, but because of our state-of-the-art infrastructure, completed artfully and with an eye towards sustainability and racial justice.
We will invest heavily in:
Not only does investing in infrastructure raise the quality of life of the people, but infrastructure investment truly does pay for itself on the back end.
It's far time we acknowledge our origin as a white supremacist, colonization, patriarchal nation. This is not to shame anyone or steal any rights from the majority but to take an honest look at our past and acknowledge the injustices this nation was built on, in an attempt to learn from, atone for, and heal from our past so that we can finally unite as one nation, honoring and protecting all who reside within it.
To begin the healing we will:
In a continuation of our human rights initiatives, we must reform our justice system starting with two key steps:
Immigrants are the lifeblood of this country, and it is time we start acting like it. This issue has been 100% created by our legislators on the right. Republicans and the powers that be (huge corporations) want cheap labor. They lure workers here with undocumented jobs at below minimum wage and then scapegoat them as the problem. This is a made-up issue to win elections based on fear. Democrats and Republican leaders have both long focused on deporting undocumented immigrants who break laws while here. Democrats have long proposed making legal immigration easier and increasing enforcement on illegal crossings. The problem is that the Republicans as a whole don't want legal immigration. We will fix this by:
Immigrants don't cost the economy, they contribute to it in new and vibrant ways, often bringing a new point of view and vigorous energy to the job at hand.
Diplomacy must be our priority. Military action must be relegated to last resort.
We must have a serious discussion, as a people, about the role we have taken in the world militarily. We must start a conversation around ending war as a method of gaining and maintaining economic and strategic power reserved for humanitarian reasons only. It's, again, far past time for humans to evolve.
